Urban Exploring.

The concrete jungle, an obstacle to overcome and challenge on modern life. What I first think of when hearing the word jungle is this concept of an urban landscape regarded as a dangerous place in which people are engaged in a chaotic struggle for survival. Empty futuristic skyscrapers and turn of the century factories dotting the landscape in place of trees and greenier. A cutthroat struggle amongst the people of this environment to one up each other and narcissistically change the space to make it their own. I have drawn on this struggle as a source of inspiration for my photographic body of work regarding abandoned places, using the same competitive nature in the form of Urban Exploration. The reclaiming of public spaces by deiscovering new unknown spots and leaving your mark either with graffiti or photography is in itself a form of sustainability and remaining in our complex world in which memory and staying power has become our new nourishment.
